Youth Executive League at the Library (Y.E.L.L.) is where 9th to 12th grade students are invited every 2nd and 4th Thursday starting at 4:00pm to assist the library in a variety of ways. Teens in this club will be expected to complete tasks such as preparing craft activities for events, decorating/cleaning the library, creating book displays, and learning new skills for special program assistance and outreach opportunities. They also receive first pick for any volunteer opportunities that arise (e.g. shelving openings, summer reading volunteering slots, and special event assistance).
It is also an excellent opportunity to speak to a librarian about any programs or events you would like to design and host yourself right here at the library! The skills and experience you gain in this area look great on college applications and resumes, and you can also receive a personalized recommendation letter from a library staff member.
This program counts towards volunteer hours for school and registration is not required. Teens are expected to be present and actively participating for the full hour of the meeting to receive volunteer credit.
